Our Godson

David and I are so proud to be Godparents to Chris and Rebecca's son, Hunter! We recently attended his baptism at their church in Houston. Hunter did so well at the church service despite the fact that it was held during morning nap time. He loved all the special attention and even tried to grab the minister's microphone during the dedication. I don't think this little boy is going to be shy. He and Colin are just a few weeks apart in age, and I'm certain that they are going to be best buddies. Good thing their fairy Godmothers will keep them out of trouble. :)

Morning Exercise

Colin and I are polar opposites when it comes to our morning routine. He wakes up and starts jumping in bed. I wake up and roll over hoping to hit snooze on the baby monitor. Colin starts his day with shrill screams of excitement while I groan and moan to get to the bathroom.

However, my mood immediately changes when I see the grin on his face - it's contagious - and you can't help but join in his enthusiasm for the new day. I wonder if I went to bed at 7:30 pm if I would consistently wake up happy? I doubt it. But it sure works for sweet Colin.

In his mind, there is exploring to do: cabinets to empty, stairs to climb, dogs to chase, and toys to find. After all, he doesn't want to miss anything. I keep telling him that nothing happens around here at 6am. But he proves me wrong - look at how busy Colin is in the morning...

Tropical Storm COLIN

Introducing Tropical Storm Colin! Colin is the third tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

UPDATE: I think my living room has also been hit by Colin's storm. There is debris everywhere, but the good news is that there are no casualties. haha

Play Fort

Our little guy has been sick for the past 3 days - running a low fever with a stomach bug, a running nose AND an eye infection. Poor Colin! We know he feels awful but that doesn't keep him from needing constant stimulation and entertainment. I've decided that his attention span is even worse when he is ill. We've played with EVERY toy in EVERY room of the house, and he can't seem to get his mind off how rotten he feels. I even took out the tupperware and pots and pans.

Finally, on the third day of inside play time I got creative and turned our couch into a play fort. That was fun! I hope he feels better soon because I'm running out of ideas. Maybe a trip to Toys R Us is in our immediate future.

Colin is 11 Months

Colin is a busy bee learning new things and growing at the speed of light. The best thing about 11 months is that Colin is sleeping through the night finally. Can I get an Amen? He is consistently sleeping from 8 pm until 6 am. Other neat things Colin is doing...

He can walk behind a toy or walker
He can stand up on his own
He drinks from a sippy cup now
He gets excited and claps for himself
He is saying words like "ball," "dada," "mama"
He loves swimming and is doing SO well in his water babies class
He can climb up the stairs in seconds
He can turn the bath tub on and off
He is getting to be more cuddly and gives hugs often
He loves peek a boo games
He adores Monster and plays tug and fetch with her

His personality is really blossoming, and his opinions are getting stronger. In fact, he isn't shy about expressing them. I've already witnessed a few temper tantrums (mostly when I take the phone away from him). I'm pretty good at distracting him so that it doesn't last long. His short attention span works to my advantage sometimes too. :)
