False Alarm
This morning I got a call from my sister thinking her baby was on the way. Unfortunately, it was a false alarm but we were getting ready...FAST! Maybe another week or two before we get to meet Colin's cousin Charlotte. Let me tell you how hard it is to pack with a professional crawler - Colin can unpack a suitcase faster than I can pack it.
Welcome Trey
Bike Riding Buddy
I participated in the Texas 4000 Atlas bike ride this weekend. It's kick off ride that the Texas 4000 team does in their journey from Austin to Alaska. The team, mostly students from The University of Texas, are passionate young people who train, fundraise, educate, and bring hope to those with cancer. My sweet friend, Jamille, is the Executive Director of the program, and I rode my bike to support their amazing efforts.
During the ride, I met this man (didn't catch his name) and his dog, Oleta. Oleta was SO excited to get on the bike. She’s safety harnessed to his chest but she pretty much stands the entire time. For the record, she did the 50 mile ride like that!!! Can you imagine? Talk about a dog who loves to have the wind in her hair. I had to ask if I could get their picture. The guy said he adopted her (age 6 or 7) from a retirement home. She is having the time of her life after living as a lap dog in her early years.

Kibble and Bits
I got a call from our babysitter today to inform me that Colin was eating Monster's dog food. She said Colin was coughing, and she was nervous that he was choking on the kibble. So I asked her if she could get it out of his mouth with her finger. She then swiped a chunk of kibble out from Colin's cheek and said, "Yep, definitely smells like dog food."
I could hear him crying in protest in the background. Evidently, he was enjoying the dog food. I'm SO puzzled, he doesn't like green beans but he'll eat DOG FOOD?!? Does that mean he's still a picky eater? Or not?

Bookworm
Colin is finally showing interest in his picture books. He likes to turn the pages and after he turns the page - he bites it - kinda like a baby's stamp of approval. Colin definitely thinks books are yummy. Just watch out because the corners can be sharp (like getting a Dorito stuck in the roof of your mouth).

Colin is 9 Months
Today makes 9 months and 3/4 of the way to Colin's first birthday. To say that time has flown by seems like an understatement. I'm not sure if it's the new pace of my life (kinda like a P.E. teacher with no lunch break) or the lack of sleep, but this has honestly been the FASTEST 9 months of my life.
It is fun to see all the changes in Colin's growth and development. In the evenings, when Colin is asleep and David and I have down time, we talk about all the new things Colin did or said. He is certainly acting more and more like a person with full-blown emotions and a killer sense of humor that has us cracking up. We each have our favorite "Colinisms" - mine is ga ga. I always ask him, "ga ga like Lady GaGa?"
Colin's 9 month doc appointment:
Weight = 18 lbs 12 oz. (10%-25%)
Height = 28.5 in. (50%)
Head = 47.2 cm. (90-95%)
