Colin is One Month!

Tomorrow is Colin's one month check up with our pediatrician. She will weigh him again and give us his new percentages. Last appointment, he weighed 7.5 lbs and was in the 10-25% for height and weight but his head circumference was 85% percentile.

He's definitely growing - I know this bc he now has more wardrobe choices! His 0-3 month clothes are finally starting to fit, and I've had fun playing dress up. I love the footed pjs and anything blue brings out the blue in his eyes. Wonder if those baby blues will change color? Fingers crossed they don't chance bc as a "brown eyed girl" I have always wanted blue.

Colin's new schedule is sleep for three 3-hour shifts and wake up around 7 am. Unfortunately, mornings are his happy time (my not-so-happy time) so we "play" on the activity mat and take a walk in the BOB most every day. Then, if he won't take a nap around lunch, I give him a bath and hope that brings sleep. Yesterday, he only took one 2-hour nap all day long. He's definitely more alert now, and it's fun to watch him explore his new environment. David thinks he's obsessed with lights and ceiling fans, but I think that's what you tend to look at when you lie on your back all day.

Game Day Pics

David and Tish came to visit, and we watched the Texas game. Colin slept through the game, but he did wear his burnt orange to support the horns.

Milk Screen Test: Failed

David and I went to Trudy's last night for Mexican Martinis. I had a couple martinis but didn't feel drunk at all. My tolerance is definitely lower after taking a 10 month break from alcohol, but I thought I would be fine to feed Colin when we got home. Luckily, I had purchase the handy Milk Screen Test Strips just in case. I took the test and sure enough...failed! It's pretty easy to have your milk denied - the tolerance is only .02 (it's .08 to drive).

David thought it was blog worthy so we took a pic of my test results. Needless to say, I did the ole "pump and dump" trick for the first time (definitely not the last, hehe).

Guess who likes the Boppy pillow?

Monster has taken over some of Colin's things recently. Of course, she thinks ALL of his toys are her toys, his blankets are part of her "nest" on the couch, and now she has found a new favorite spot. I caught her cuddled up in Colin's Boppy pillow this morning. For anyone who is new to baby gear (like I was) this peculiar shaped pillow goes around your lap and helps hold the baby during breast feeding or just when you need some arm support. It's really a handy thing except when it's being used by your furry baby!

Sweet Sleepy Boy

What do you do on a rainy afternoon? Colin and Monster both agree: Take a nap, of course. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, a nice quiet moment!

Week 4 with Colin

I'm beginning to think I'm going to survive this motherhood thing (up until this week it was debatable). Colin might be entering a growth spurt. He has a huge appetite and he is eating more often this week. My boobs can hardly keep up, but now I know why he's been so fussy lately. Yesterday I found a genius solution to quiet his cries! I loaded his screaming butt in the car, turned up David's rap music and rolled down the windows. Just like magic, he feel asleep before I reached Starbucks. What a great trick?!? In fact, my housekeeper told me yesterday that my house was "too quiet" and she proceeded to turn on the vacuum cleaner. That also did the trick!

In other news, Colin is peeling and popping baby acne. He was absolutely perfect when was born, but now he's going through his first awkward stage. Not to worry, the pediatrician said it would heal in a few weeks. He has his one month appointment later this week. I'm curious to see how much he weighs now. It's funny to think that one day this little guy is going to be bigger than me!!!

My View

A view from inside the pacifier!!! I laugh every time I look down and see this peculiar viewpoint. It's kinda freaky if you ask me.
