Colin's 6 Month Appointment

At Colin's 6 month check up:
He weighs 16 pounds 3 ounces which puts him in the 25% for weight.
He measures 26.375 inches which puts him in the 50% for height.
His head is still huge and he's holding strong at 90-95% in this category.

And guess what...Colin is getting teeth!!! He has 2 bottom teeth trying to surface. You can feel the little ridges and see the white lines. He is going to look so different with teeth.

In other news, we have started Colin on baby food. First I tried squash and he gagged. Next I tried green beans and he gagged and spit it out. Then I tried sweet potatoes and he actually liked those. I gave him some bananas yesterday and that went over pretty well. I think he's going to like fruit a lot better than veggies. But who doesn't, right? In the mean time, the diaper changes have been OUT of this world! Food does amazing things to the system. Time to potty train this kid!!! :)

Worst Diaper Change Ever

It started out as a messy diaper, and quickly turned into a plain ole mess. Here's a play-by-play:

First, Colin puts his hand in his dirty diaper. Then he puts his hand in his hair. Then his foot slams into the diaper as he's furiously kicking the changing table.

I'm working as fast as I can to contain the mess and keep Colin from flipping off the table. My hand is soiled, and I've used nearly 20 wipes!!! I can't get Colin's outfit off fast enough.

Quickly, I turn on the tub and dangle Colin in the water. He's slipping and flailing out of control. His bobble head narrowly misses the metal faucet. I can't get a good grip on him AND open the soap bottle. I call for help.

David comes running to the rescue. This is how he found us. I think we will be better prepared for the next blow out.

New Toy

We are well on our way to turning our house into a kid-friendly place. As much as I hate the clutter, it's fun to watch a happy baby play.

After a trip to Toys R Us AND Home Depot, here is the new toy...

Colin's New Schedule

We have finally managed to get Colin on a nap/sleep schedule. It wasn't easy, but Colin is now ready and willing to take a nap at 10 am and 1 pm. I never know how long the naps will be, but I consider anything over 1 hour a bonus (or should I say, a blessing).

Colin is 6 Months

Our 6 Month Old:
Is now on a decent schedule!!!
Has slept through the night 7 times
Finally sleeps in his crib
Eats rice cereal with a spoon
Rolls from back to front, front to back, over and over!!!
Puts his feet in his mouth
Spends lots of time on his tummy
Thinks Monster is hilarious (which she is)

Hey, the baby monitor works pretty well - I'm able to walk half way down the street.

Snow!!!

We didn't believe it when we heard the forecast but sure enough it's snowing in Austin, Texas!!! I took Colin outside to get the full experience. He held his breath when the snow landed on his cheeks, and gave me a polite smile as I laughed and twirled.

Unfortunately, his nose started turning red and nap time was fast approaching so we went inside after only a minute or two. I told him there would be more snow when he woke up from his nap. More pictures to come.
