Week 38 with Bean

One more weekend where it’s just the 2 of us and our sweet dog. We actually made a list of things we want to do over the next week and a half. Things that made the list: eat a nice steak dinner, go to the movies-Transformers (David’s choice) and Time Travelers Wife (my choice), see the musical, "Wicked," get my car detailed, and do a "Dream Dinners" class. Hopefully the last 11 days will go by fast.

I’m SO uncomfortable here at week 38. The pressure is getting terribly intense, plus when bean moves now it stops me in my tracks. I play the game, Guess the Body Part, when his sharp feet and elbows come to the surface of my stomach. My heartburn is crazy bad at night - I spend half the night sitting up. He weighed about 6.9 lbs this morning at my appointment, and he will gain an ounce a day from here on out. And today my doctor said he could feel his butt!!! I guess that explains why I have to go to the bathroom about 6-8 times a night. :) Can you say, ouch?

My last day of work was Thurs of last week. I'll miss my days at the paper store, but right now I just feel like I’m on vacation or something. I’ve been swimming at the gym almost every day. Love it! And I’m taking care of EVERYTHING I can possibly think of to do before this baby comes. Today was Monster’s dental cleaning. Poor baby, she didn’t like that very much. She's moping around in a very drunk state tonight, and I hope she is back to her spunky self by tomorrow morning. Her teeth are pearly white again though! Now she can lick bean and he won't smell like her nasty fish breath. hehe

In other news, our friends Lori and Gaines had their baby today! I can't wait to go for my first visit. I don't know if I've ever held a baby only a day old (this will change very soon) not to mention the fact that I've never changed a diaper...lots of firsts here for me. Soon it will be second nature. I do wish that babies weren't like bobble head dolls in the beginning. That part freaks me out. They have to be more durable than they look though - especially considering the rough journey they take to get into this world. Bean, you get out easy. Thank me later for that, okay?

  3. I love your posts!
Don't worry. I had never changed a diaper either until I had Harrison. It's weird that when you become a mommy, you just know what to do.
Wishing you some peaceful moments before Bean arrives.
